The soundscape of a thunderstorm that passed over berlin in 2012, recorded from my backyard window with a little earplug stereo mic that a friend once made for me - a dummy head. The heavy rain was followed by thunder, then transforms into softer rain that lets you hear faint city sounds like cars, doors closing, someone using a screwdriver, voices, the bells of a nearby church, airplanes and birds. There's so much to hear, i couldn't stop recording. I only took out some little peaks caused by the movement of my ear.

Well, i wanted to do add a sound to my recording of a chicken in a barn. I put the mic (zoom h2 - 4ch-around) outside on the ground and threw some corn around it, so that the chickens will walk around it and hopefully make some noise. The chickens are very chilled, so there are just clucking smoothly and you can hear them walking around. Further there some flies flying close to the mic, some birds and stuff. . . :-).

A fascinating recording of a warm, humid mid august day in the midwest. This recording was made on sunday august 11th, 2019 near a popular dog park in a small southern illinois town. In addition to the gentle droning of the insects, and occassional birds, you will hear some dogs barking at various times toward the end of the piece. Both the temperature and humidity were nicely lower than usual and this soundscape was recorded featuring the beautiful northern breezes and a few of the birds that still live here. Since this ambience was recorded during the work-week, there are hardly any man-made internal combustion engine noises. Just the wind lifting and swirling through the tired forest and the blue jays, crows and insects. Recording made at 2:30pm on september 13 2022. A stereo recording of a weekday afternoon at melbourne general cemetery (victoria, australia), in the suburb of carlton north or princes hill. There are some birds, a plane flying overhead. It was recorded using a sony pcm-d50's built-in stereo microphones and has had light noise reduction applied (de-wind, rx8). This recording was taken in august 2021 on unceded wurundjeri land, which belongs to the woi wurrung people of the eastern kulin nations. I acknowledge their sovereignty and pay my respects to their elders and all first nations people.

They just went on and on and i never heard them like this before except for maybe one or two squawking away at times. A bit of wind came up and a few background noises. Field recording of a summer afternoon (28th june, ~20:30) in berlin lichtenberg. The recorder (edirol r-09rh) was set in a very high building, therefore the sound consists mainly of ambient noise, eventually with subtle concrete sounds (birds, childs, dogs, sirens,. . . ). The audio is unfiltered, so it's dominated by low-frequency energy. Filter as you wish :). (the web preview seems to have some high frequency artifacts. Download the wav file to get it on full quality).

I recorded this with a yamaha pocketrak that i taped to the feeder and enhanced the vol. With sony sound forge. It was fun to watch their reaction to the recorder but they eventually figured out it was harmless. A recording of the peaceful mid-autumn woods here in the midwest usa. I recorded this on november 15 2022 using a sony pcm d-100. In the northern hemisphere now, days now are much shorter, and much colder. Which means all of our energetic summer warblers and other migrants have long gone south, and are no doubt lounging around in a palm tree or something just gorging on insects. Here is the midwest woods? sure the summer birds are gone, but, the beauty of this season is that now you can hear the birds that never leave us. No matter how brutal the winter is, the blue jays, the black-capped chickadees, the many species of woodpeckers and the belted kingfishers never leave. This creates a different, but beautiful soundscape in the woods. For this particular recording, since i've found through years of roaming the woods, birds have a tendancy to be near water, i placed the recorder on a creekbank about 15 feet from a shallow creek. Now of course i could have gotten closer to the creek but by now the entire woods is a carpet of leaves -- this very slow-moving creek included. Which means the leaves had accumulated on thevery still creek water itself and i was concerned if i stepped on the leaves--thinking it was solid ground underneath, i would instead be "treated" to an ice cold pair of shoes and socks!. Among the highlights of this recording are:00:00:00 starting off with the loud blue jays1:56 black-capped chickadees with their active musical trills3:55 the very large and very loud pileated woodpeckers8:41--8:56 then again starting at 10:05 and running through10:40 the beautiful belted kingfisher with it's staccato-likerasp. A test recording of a top-loading washing machine accelerating to 1000rpm on its final spin cycle. Note that it's not as high-quality as i would've liked, but i'll try again soon. Recorded with an oppo reno 8 lite 5g phone and edited with audacity. You may also hear birds chirping, which i had trouble editing out with this recording. The machine in question is a fisher & paykel quicksmart 5. 5kg (mw513) running on 240v 50hz power. This machine utilises a "direct drive" bldc motor instead of the traditional induction motor and pulley.

About 2. 5 minutes of ambient audio recorded at the hurunui jacks campground adjacent to the kaniere river near hokitika on the west coast of new zealand. This is an inland tropical rain-forest setting. There are lots of insect sounds, birds, and the sound of the river (not very prominent) in the background. While recording birds at the south sutor above cromarty, black isle, highlands, scotland on may 7th 2014 about 3pm a raf sea king came along to practice cliff rescues nearby to my annoyance so recorded it instead. It hovered behind the trees nearby before heading towards the cliff did a lower and lift and then swept round in large circle before heading back over the sea to the base at lossiemouth. Recorded using a zoom h2n recorder and software provided with recorder called wavelab. No alteration or special effects used.

For this one, the young couple did it on a morning. There were birds/dogs, planes, neighbor people close by, cars/trucks, and even people in my household got in the recording. Did my best to remove all the noises and only keep the noises coming from that couple. The sex noises are around 2:45-5:15. They weren't that sexually loud since it's morning. Not sure how long they were actively on bed this time either.

It's a combination of various sounds for about 33 minutes. I did normalize the track a little bit and added a low shelving eq filter. If you want the raw audio file to do your own clean up. . . Message me. There are mic bumps and movements that you'll need to take out or edit out. I hope it's may be useful for your project. The rustling sound coming from palm trees can be used for other types of trees blowing in the wind.

A drowsy, warm lazy hot day in mid-summer in the forest of the midwestern usa. As is the case around mid-july, the birds are not singing as much. Perhaps they are just exhausted from raising a family and wilting from the heat. The insect chorus ebbs and flows, like the ocean waves creeping up on the beach, and retreating back. Except, unlike the ocean which never stops moving, the insects will eventually stop singing and hibernate for the winter. I have always loved the sound of propeller-driven planes and their slow, molasses-like sound. That sound has always induced a melancholy touch to the recordings. To me, this drowsing plane symbolizes change -- even though the birds and plants are still in full growth, the end is near. . . In about four more weeks schools will resume, the emphasis for many will turn inward. Leaving the woods to deal with the transition. The droning plane, like ocean waves, symbolize change. . . In several months there woods will be drastically changed. Recording made on july 18, 2022 using sound devices mixpre 6 and the sennheiser mkh 8020 omnidirectional microphone. I went out to the lake to record some ducks. This day they weren’t squawking as much as i’d hoped, but the wind was calmer than it normally is, and the wind really is your biggest enemy when making outdoor recordings like these. But overall, the recording isn’t bad. The ducks are smallish black ones with white beaks called the american coot. Lots of tweeting birds in there too, especially the first half, and i think those are just the normal small sparrows that you see everywhere. Couple people chatting, but they’re way in the distance. I let the patch sound thru a pair of cheap computer speakers that i use as monitors. In an adjacent room, close to an open window, i put my phone and record. This is the unedited outcome. The recording was made 09:00 (16-05-11). Unfortunately nothing happened outside the window. Even the birds was quiet. I think there is a hint of feedback in the sound? first i planned to record with an old tape recorder, but i couldn’t find it. . . I think this recording should be listened to with low volume. May by it was a mistake to amplify the sound in audacity? but i think there is a nice room ambiance to the recording. Ideas for next time. Use guitar amp. Find old tape recorder. Don’t put recording device to close to window.

A recording made around noon on the edge of a woods located right in the middle of a major midwestern university. Throughout this entire recording, you'll hear the everpresent hum of heating and air conditioner units running. You will also hear faint conversations and laughter of students as they walk to class, faint sounds from a nearby construction site, distant rumble of traffic, the distant droning of an airplane lazily floating through the april sky. From time to time you will also hear the well known "beep. . . Beep. . . . . Beep. . . . " of a piece of heavy equipment backing up. However, despite all of the dominating background of man and his machines, nature comes through. Sincei was sitting on the edge of a fairly large woods which sits in the center of all of the concrete and glass and steel, the sweet singing of birds lasts throughout much of this recording.
